Something Special

After watching not too few Korean films, I've noticed something that makes me fall in love with so many of them. Many of them really capture a feeling that childhood is important, and that enjoying being childlike, even when you're older is a simple pleasure that can be refreshing and fun. Coupled with that is not just reenacting childhood but revisiting it, whether it be with a sense of nostalgia, fear, rage, difficulty or something else. We all have trials and difficulties from our childhood that we struggle with and Korean film seems to often go back to these times. It's good to be reminded that nobody's life is perfect, and nobody's past was perfect, yet despite this in a kind of paradox, despite whatever difficulty we may have had we still long to go back to those child-like days for one reason or another and enjoy the simple things in life.
